ABOUT VICAR GENERAL
Fr. Modest Katonto was born on 25th March 1962 in Sopa Parish. As his father was a catechist, he was baptized on 26th March 1962 at Sopa parish. He attended his primary school education at Sumbawanga and Kasanga. Education and vocation He joined Kaengesa seminary in 1979 and completed secondary school education at Nyegezi seminary in 1985. Philosophicum In 1986 – 1986 he studied philosophy at Kibosho Seminary. Theologicum In 1988 – 1993 he studied theology at St. Charles Lwanga senior seminary – Segerea Dar es salaam. Diaconate He was ordained deacon on 27th December 1992 in Sumbawanga cathedral. Priesthood He was ordained priest on 20th June, 1993 in Kasanga parish church. Further studies St. August University of Tanzania, Mwanza (2001-2002) certificate in journalism and media studies. Gregorian University, Rome (2004-2007) Masters Degree in communications
